The prosperity of India, all through its History, flourished long before the advent of fashionable ‘Management Books’ and swanky “Lifestyle Gurus’. It was not the ‘academic books’ but ‘resilient stories’ which helped in prospering the nation. India was way ahead of its time not because of any economic or management philosophy but because it had a unique style of creating stories which inspire and teach. It must be kept in mind that the economic power of India emanated from its innumerable self-sufficient villages and each village told its own stories. The exchange of these stories taught the people of India valuable life lessons in career, health, happiness, moral values and prosperity; the most well known of these tomes were Upanishads, Jataka tales, Panchatantra and Kathasaritsagar. ‘Fiction’ does not teach, it inspires.
